Winter Skincare Routine

During the winter months your skin can become dehydrated and lose it’s healthy-looking glow. As the temperature drops, so does the moisture levels in your skin. The cold weather can cause your skin to dry out, and less sunlight during the darker months can make your skin look dull. This is because it isn’t getting enough Vitamin D, so it’s stripping your skin of the nutrients it needs.

Dry skin can develop on any part of the body, however it is more common on the face during winter because it is more exposed to the weather. When your skin is dry it can become rough, flaky and itchy. This can cause your face to redden and can make your skin more sensitive.

It is important to have a winter skincare routine to suite your skins needs. This means finding gentle products that work for you, and won’t strip your skins natural moisture. The best products you can use this time of month would be something hydrating and creamy. You would also need a good exfoliator to gently buff away dead skin cells. This allows your moisturisers to sink into your skin and work more efficiently.

Step one would be a cleanser. My favourite cleanser has got to be the Simple purifying cleansing lotion. This product is perfect for winter as it is designed for sensitive skin. It also contains multi-vitamins, is dermatologically tested and doesn’t contain harsh chemicals that can upset your skin. This product is so creamy, yet so gentle and is perfect for removing all the impurities from your skin and helps your skin feel nourished. I personally use this product just after I have taken my makeup off. I place a good amount onto a cotton pad and rub it gently across my face. It’s unreal how much dirt still comes off your face even after you have washed it!

Step two is a toner. I use the Garnier Rose Water Toner. This product not only smells amazing but works so well! Instantly after using it my face feels so fresh and clean. This toner has definitely improved my skin, it has become so much smoother and the redness has disappeared from my face. I apply this product onto my face either using clean hands or a cotton pad after cleansing. This prepares your skin for moisturising, and also helps your skin absorb products.

Step three is a moisturiser. My favourite is the Nivea Face Cream Light Moisturiser. This is a day cream, so I love to wear it under my makeup as it acts like a primer. It stops my skin from drying out, and it also keeps my skin smooth and refreshed all day. However, I do also wear this moisturiser for bed. Due to it being so light, it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin and it rubs in so easily. I love how this product makes my skin feel. When I wake up my skin feels refreshed and rejuvenated. This Is definitely my holy grail skincare product.

My Top Tips

• Drink plenty of water to help stop your skin drying out. This also helps for dry/cracked lips.

• Use Vaseline on your lips before you go to sleep. This leaves you waking up with beautiful plumped lips.

• Use a face mist. This can help to reduce dry skin, and can add a boost of hydration to your skin.

• It is good to moisturise at night, because when you sleep your skin repairs itself.

I hope you have enjoyed my post today, and I hope this helps you during the Winter Season. What are your favourite skincare products? And have you tried any that I have mentioned?

Lots of love

I love reading people’s skincare routines as the seasons change! Rose toners are amazing! I use a brand called thayers and the toner itself is so hydrating, which is perfect for winter as well 😀

I’ve never tried any of these products, but sadly I know my skin doesn’t get on with Simple products. Ironically, they always cause me to have a bad eczema flare up lol. For affordable moisturizers, I am so obsessed with CeraVe – they really help to bring my skin back to life when it is looking dull and dry!
